Strategic Parliamentary Engagements: Advocating Front of Packet Labelling (FOPWL) - A Comprehensive Overview of Meetings and Initiatives

 A meeting was convened with six Members of Parliament, comprising four of our champion MPs and two new members, Dr. Mohammad Jawed, Member of Parliament from Kisanga, Bihar, and Shri Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Member of Parliament Rajyasabha & Former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, two political think-tank representatives and political leaders were present. Unfortunately, our initial plans for in-person meetings were disrupted by an unfortunate incident in the Parliament. However, we proceeded with virtual engagement, contacting the remaining MPs by phone.

During the discussions, we handed over letters to the MPs, urging them to raise the issue at the standing committee meeting. Furthermore, we requested them to forward the letters to the Election Manifesto Committee for the inclusion of the Front of Packet Labelling (FOPWL) issue in the election manifesto.

Meeting with Shri B.P. Saroj Jee Member of Parliament Machhlishahr Loksabha/ Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Food Processing Industries on Front of Packet Labelling Regulation in New Delhi. 


Meeting with Shri Dr Ashok Bajpai ji Member of Parliament Rajyasabha / Member, Committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & Janab Bukkal Nawab Member of Legislative Council Uttar Pradesh on Front of Packet Labelling Regulation in New Delhi.

3.   Meeting with Dr Mohammad Jawed jee Member of Parliament Kishanganj Loksabha and Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Front of Packet Labelling regulation in New Delhi



13th December, 2023

Patna Declaration: Uniting Political Parties for Children's Health

  On February 7, 2024, in Patna , a significant public dialogue took place at the Kasturba Gandhi Assembly Hall within the premises of the Gandhi Museum. The event, which saw participation from 85 individuals, was organized by a coalition consisting of the Peoples’ Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR), People’s Initiative for Participatory Action for Food Labelling (PIPAL), All India Hawkers Forum, Bandi Adhikar Andolan, and Indian Roti Bank.
