Urgent Appeal for Mandatory BP Monitoring Facilities at Public Places

Dear Readers,

I hope this message finds you well. Today, I want to address a critical issue that impacts the health and well-being of individuals across our nation: the accessibility of blood pressure monitoring facilities in public spaces.

As a human rights advocate and a survivor of hypertension, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of managing my health condition while traveling across the country. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential for individuals like me, who rely on medication to maintain normal levels. Unfortunately, finding a nearby facility for a quick check-up can be a daunting task, as I discovered recently during a health scare in the city.

My concerns were further heightened when I came across a news article in the esteemed English daily, Times of India, dated January 16, 2024, titled "Silent killer: Stroke, once common among old, now stalks young, reveals AIIMS-Delhi data". The article highlighted the alarming increase in strokes among the younger population, underscoring the urgent need for preventive measures.

In response to this pressing issue, I am appealing to the authorities, including the National Human Rights Commission and the Government of India, to mandate the installation of blood pressure monitoring facilities at all public places. These facilities should be readily available in malls, fitness centers, salons, airports, and waiting areas, ensuring easy access for individuals seeking to monitor their blood pressure levels.

By implementing such measures, we can not only assist those with hypertension in managing their condition but also contribute to the promotion of preventive healthcare and the overall well-being of our society. This initiative aligns with the principles of human rights, particularly the right to health and access to essential medical services for all.

I urge you to join me in raising awareness about this issue and advocating for the necessary policy changes. Together, we can make a difference in safeguarding the health and well-being of our fellow citizens.

Thank you for your support and attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Lenin Raghuvanshi

Subject: Urgent Appeal for Mandatory BP Monitoring Facilities at Public Places

To,

H.E Narendra Modi jee

Honorable Prime Minister of India

Respected Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a critical issue concerning the accessibility of blood pressure monitoring facilities in public spaces across India, particularly in light of my personal experience as a human rights advocate and a hypertension survivor.

In the course of my duties as a human rights defender, I have extensively traveled across the country, facing considerable challenges in monitoring my blood pressure regularly. Managing my health condition necessitates a daily intake of 5 mg medication to maintain normal blood pressure levels. Today, while I was in the city, experiencing congestion in my chest, I attempted to find a nearby blood pressure monitoring facility, but unfortunately, none were available. Consequently, I had to urgently seek assistance at the nearest clinic.

Recently, I came across a news article in the esteemed English daily, Times of India, dated January 16, 2024, titled "Silent killer: Stroke, once common among old, now stalks young, reveals AIIMS-Delhi data" [Link: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/silent-killer-stroke-once-common-among-old-now-stalks-young-reveals-aiims-data/articleshowprint/106881499.cms]. The content of this article resonated deeply with my personal experiences, shedding light on the escalating prevalence of strokes among the younger population.

Given this alarming trend, I sincerely urge the honorable Commission to take immediate action by directing the Government of India to mandate the installation of blood pressure monitoring facilities at all public places, including malls, fitness centers, salons, airports, and waiting areas.

Ensuring the widespread availability of such facilities would not only assist individuals like me in managing hypertension but would also contribute significantly to the overall well-being of the population through the promotion of preventive healthcare. This initiative is in line with the fundamental principles of human rights, especially the right to health and access to essential medical services.

I trust that the National Government of India will give due consideration to this appeal and take the necessary steps to safeguard the health and well-being of our fellow citizens.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely Yours,

(Lenin Raghuvanshi)
