On 16th May 2022, a national dialogue was organized in the presence of distinguished guests from all the sectors including media, political organisations, civil societies, business-owners and other community leaders at Gandhi Peace Foundation, Delhi. Everyone gathered to initiate a discussion on the issue of Packaged food and its harsh consequences on children.

Ms. Shruti Nagvanshi, Founder and Convener, Savitri Bai Phule Women Forum welcomed the guests on the dais and extended a warm welcome to all the participants. This was followed by a fruitful discussion. The speakers revealed alarming statistics and harsh realities on the issue. 61% of the total deaths in India happen due to non-communicable diseases and children suffer gravely due to malnutrition. The irony here is that many children also face problems due to obesity resulting in high blood pressure, diabetes and other related diseases. These facts directed the discussion to the solution i.e., mandatory front labelling on access fat, sugar and salt content on food packaging.

Patna Declaration: Uniting Political Parties for Children's Health

  On February 7, 2024, in Patna , a significant public dialogue took place at the Kasturba Gandhi Assembly Hall within the premises of the Gandhi Museum. The event, which saw participation from 85 individuals, was organized by a coalition consisting of the Peoples’ Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR), People’s Initiative for Participatory Action for Food Labelling (PIPAL), All India Hawkers Forum, Bandi Adhikar Andolan, and Indian Roti Bank. The primary focus of this gathering was to advocate for "Warning label Front-of-Package Labeling" as a means to address the rising concerns of non-communicable diseases, malnutrition, and obesity.
